Dear Savvas Matsas,
I am writing to support your 'right' and 'duty' to resist fascism. We also have a 'duty' to support your struggle to defend working people in Greece against all forms of racism on the basis of national or regional origin. The charges against you by the Golden Dawn Party, while frivolous and lacking any merit, are troubling, as they seem motivated by racial hatred. In view of the growing fascist attacks around the world and growth of juridical and criminal action against working people, including the USA, I write to denounce all forms of bigotry and hatred that are motivated by the rise of uncompromising nationalist sentiment that is tolerated in Greece and increasingly around the world. The rise of fascism is growing throughout the world and all those who support peace, equality, and genuine democracy, consider the necessity for working people to transform discriminatory sentiments against the imperial powers and corporate financial system that truly is the cause of the decline in Greek living standards. It is unacceptable to direct hatred against Savvas Matsas, who seeks to advance a just society.
Thank you for your valiant struggle against fascism in Greece, which will also improve the lives of humans throughout the world.
Yours sincerely,
Immanuel Ness
